Ally: An ELMS-Canvas Accessibility Tool
What is Ally?
Ally is a new ELMS-Canvas tool designed to improve usability and accessibility for teaching and learning and is available to all UMD instructors upon request.
When enabled on your ELMS-Canvas course, Ally automatically scans your original content and performs several steps to make them more accessible.
Ally provides:
- Alternative formats for students to download (e.g., mp3, electronic braille, HTML, ePub, etc.). Providing students with more accessible original content means they can choose formats that work best for them: HTML for improved reading on mobile phones, Electronic Braille for the visually impaired, and Audio for learning on the go.
- Accessibility scores for your course
- Feedback on how to improve your accessibility score
